Courchevel 1300 / Le Praz
You would not believe Courchevel was originally once conceived as the “peoples ski resort” with its stunning hotels and luxury chalets dotted all over the slopes, but the further down the valley you go it becomes more authentic.
Starting with Le Praz, it is a very sweet, charming little village. It is ideal for a family holiday. There are several chalets and one hotel- Les Peupliers, situated around a lake and the famous Olympic ski jump, which is beautifully lit up at night. There are also a few restaurants and a pizzeria that livens up at night with entertainment such as live bands.
Le Praz has a frequent bus service, which is free of charge and stops of at each destination as it climbs the mountain taking approximately 20 minutes to reach its final stop in 1850.
However, if you fancied a quicker route direct to the slopes, le Praz has two gondolas, ‘La Foret’ that will swiftly take you up towards La Tania and ‘Le Praz’, which takes you to Courchevel 1850. To top it off for a hassle free ride home, if you are an intermediate or advanced skier then you can take the red run ‘Brigues’ back to the resort.
